User Role Maintenance
A user's ability to perform tasks in Odyssey is determined by the roles assigned to that user. Roles are made up of specific rights that allow users to perform tasks. Before roles can be applied to a user, the user record must be saved. All the roles that are assigned to a user are listed on the Maintain User Roles dialog box.
After a role is assigned to a user, you can modify the rights associated with that role. If the role is a local role, meaning it is only available at a specific location, the Image icon is displayed beside the role on the Maintain User Roles dialog box.
Click Image to assign roles to the user. Click a role to modify its fields.
The following options are available.
Option Description
Next (ALT+N) / Back (ALT+B) If there are multiple pages of roles, click Next (ALT+N) to go to the next page and Back (ALT+B) to go back to a previous page.
Sort Select a sort option to indicate your preferred sort order. You can choose to sort alphabetically by the role name or the location where the role is assigned.

Modify Role If you have the right to modify the selected role, this option is displayed in the right-click menu. Select this option to modify the role information.
View Role If you do not have the right to modify the selected role, this option is displayed in the right-click menu. When you select this option, the role information is displayed but it cannot be modified.
Assign Existing Role If you have the right to assign roles to a user, this option is displayed in the right-click menu. Select to assign additional roles to the user.
Delete If you have the right to modify users, this option is displayed in the right-click menu. Select this option to un-assign the role that has been applied to the user.
