Role Fields
Complete the following fields to maintain roles.
Role Name and Description
Field Name Field Description
Role Name The role name entered on the Enter Role Name dialog box is displayed, but you can enter a different role name if needed. Roles names must be unique. Role names can contain uppercase or lowercase letters or the numbers 0-9. You can also include periods, dashes, underscores, or parentheses.
Click Image if you need additional space to edit a lengthy role name.
Description Type a description of the role in the space provided or click Image if you need additional space to enter a lengthy role description.
Effective Information
Field Name Field Description
Effective Date If the role should not become available until a later date, enter that date in this field.
If you enter an effective date that is greater than today (meaning the role is not yet active), Image is displayed beside the role on the Maintain Product Center Roles page. Pause on this icon to see the effective date.
Obsolete Date If the role ever becomes obsolete (meaning it is no longer used) or will become obsolete at some point in the future, enter an obsolete date.
The role is then considered to be inactive when it reaches the obsolete date and remains obsolete until the date is removed or changed to a future date. When a role is made obsolete, it cannot be assigned to users.
When roles with obsolete dates are shown on the Maintain Product Center Roles page, Image is displayed beside the role to indicate that the role is obsolete. Pause on this icon to see the obsolete date.
Search for Rights
Field Name Field Description
Find ALL keywords / Find ANY keywords When applying rights to a role, you can search for a specific right by entering a keyword in the space provided. Use one of the following options to determine how the information is searched:
•  If you enter multiple keywords and select Find ALL keywords, the system searches for rights that contain all the keywords you enter.
•  If you select Find ANY keywords, the system searches for rights that contain any of the words you enter.
Keyword(s) Type the keywords to use for the rights search.
Show Once you perform a search, select Search Results from the Show menu to view only rights that match the keyword. If there are no matching rights on a specific tab in the Rights Listing, then “No Match Found” is displayed when viewing the search results. Messages are displayed below the rights listing to inform you of which tabs contain matching rights. Click a message to go directly to the tab with matching rights.
To return to the complete rights listing, select Rights Listing from the Show menu.
Search (ALT+S) Click this button to search for the rights matching the Keyword(s).
