Transactions cannot be deleted after they have been saved, so Odyssey provides a way to void or reverse certain transactions.
Financial Transactions
Since transactions cannot be deleted after they have been saved, Odyssey provides a way for you to cancel, void, or reverse
certain transactions.
When voiding or reversing a payment on multiple cases, the entire transaction must be voided or reversed. You cannot void
only part of a transaction corresponding to a certain case within the payment.
A payment on a closed till may not be voided. A payment on an open till may not be reversed.
Any time you use the void or reverse option, a new transaction is created. Changes cannot be made to the original transaction.
Action |
Process |
Void |
You can void the following transactions:
|
• |
Case fee and miscellaneous payments on an open till |
|
• |
Registry deposits on an open till |
A void removes money from tender methods and affects the balancing of cash drawers. If the payment is not voided or reversed,
the Void button is displayed.
After a transaction is voided, the same transaction cannot be voided again. Since the original transaction is voided, no further
actions can be performed to that transaction. However, if you need to reverse the effects of a voided transaction (e.g., you
voided the wrong transaction), it can be reversed. Select the voiding transaction (created to void the original) choose the
Reverse option.
|
Reverse |
A reversing transaction is one that does the exact opposite of the payment transaction: reversing the effects of the original
transaction. You can reverse the following transactions:
|
• |
Payments on a till that is closed and deposited |
|
• |
Registry deposits on a till that is closed and deposited |
|
Delete |
Only assessed fees can be deleted. Right-click an assessed fee and select Delete to delete it. Registry and miscellaneous assessment fees cannot be deleted. Fees can only be deleted if there is no activity
on them. If you entered a due date when you assessed a fee, then the due date is also deleted when you delete the fee. You
must provide a new due date for any newly assessed fees after you delete them.

Check Transactions
After a check is submitted to the check queue, it can be canceled and removed from the list of checks to be exported. After
a check is exported, the check can be voided to return the escrow to the appropriate fees. When a disbursement transaction
is voided, the escrow is applied back to the fees.
Action |
Process |
Disbursement check is submitted |
Funds are removed from escrow account.
Check is added to the list of checks to be exported.
A disbursement transaction is added to the case fee transactions listing.
|
Disbursement check is submitted, then canceled |
Funds are returned to escrow account.
Check is removed from the check printing queue.
Disbursement transaction is removed from the case fee transactions listing.
|
Disbursement check is exported |
Check information is exported to the check printing system for printing and removed from the check queue. |
Disbursement transaction is voided |
Funds are returned to escrow account.
A void disbursement transaction is added to the case fee transactions listing.
|
Void disbursement transaction is reversed |
Funds are removed from escrow account.
A reverse disbursement transaction is added to the case fee transactions listing.
|
Note: If a single check was created and exported to disburse fees for multiple cases through the group disbursement process,
the disbursement transaction must be voided for all the cases involved. This can be done easily by accessing one of the cases
that was included in the check and voiding the check as described above. Voiding the check from one case also voids the check
for all cases included in the check.
