Offense Codes
Offense codes include offense codes, groups and modifiers, statute type, charge qualifiers, BAC test statuses, degrees, drug information, confinement information, prosecutor decision, and license information.
Before configuring the code behaviors, you must complete the basic code setup, including the code description and the dates on which the code becomes effective and obsolete. After completing the static fields, you must then complete the fields specified on each individual code.
Code Description Additional Code Behaviors
Additional Statute Types Indicates the nature of an additional statute that may be recorded on a criminal charge, such as enhancement, penalty, or additional defining.  
Blood Alcohol Content Status Defines blood alcohol status codes. Enable BAC Level for this Status – Select this check box to enable the Blood Alcohol Level field for the blood alcohol status code.
Charge Qualifier – Ranges Indicates whether the value is equal to, less than, or greater than the value in the Charge Qualifier – Amount field.  
Charge Qualifier – Units Indicates the dollar value or weight value that applies to the data recorded in the Charge Qualifier – Amount field.  
Charge Qualifier – Weapons Indicates the type of weapon, if any, that was used in the commission of a crime.  
Confinement Location Defines specific locations where a defendant may be confined, such as XYZ Jail or MM State Prison Facility.  
Confinement Types Defines locations where a defendant may be confined, such as county jail or state prison.  
Degree Defines the divisions or classifications for crimes, according to seriousness, such as first degree or misdemeanor. Severity – Type a numerical value for the severity.
Base Degree Type – From the drop-down list, select the underlying degree type for this degree, such as felony or misdemeanor.
Applicable Penalty Range – Type the range of the possible penalty for this degree.
Drug Type Offers an additional descriptor for drug-related offenses.  
Incident-Based Reports Defines codes for incident-based reports.  
License Not Eligible Reason Defines reasons an offender's license was not eligible for DUI-related offenses.  
License Not Surrendered Reason Defines reasons an offender's license was not surrendered during a DUI-related offense.  
Livescan Machines Defines Livescan machines that are used to generate a charge tracking number. These codes are used to validate the first five characters of a 13 character FPN (Fingerprint Control Number).  
Offense Codes Defines the offenses.
Complete the following additional fields on the General, Additional, and Paragraph tabs.
Offense Groups Defines groups – or categories – of offenses, such as family violence. Judge Pool – From the drop-down list, select the judge pool to use when an offense from this group occurs.
Offense Modifiers Defines modifying codes for offenses, such as attempted or conspiracy to commit.  
Prosecutor Decisions Indicates the final action taken by the prosecutor or grand jury on a charge. Automatically Creates Case Filing Record For Charge – Select this check box to automatically create a case for a charge on offenses with this prosecutor decision.
Rearrest Reasons Defines reasons that a defendant may be rearrested.  
Source Codes Defines the source from which the statutes originate, such as a state's penal code.
