Document Viewer
When you open a PDF or TIFF document, it is automatically displayed in the Document Viewer. Some examples of documents that open in the Document Viewer are forms, the case summary, case event documents, and report outputs. When you open Word files, they are displayed in the default Microsoft® Word® program.
Note: Different features and functions are available when a document is accessed from a task. Refer to the Indexing Document Viewer topic for more information on task-related document features.
 
Document Viewer
The header menu at the top of the Document Viewer contains viewing, paging, and preference options. Additionally, the Document Viewer has its own Command Legend.
Document Viewer Options
Several view controls and paging options are available in the header of the Document Viewer.
Option Description
Image Click this option to fit the document within the entire viewer.
Image Click this option to fit the document to the height of the viewer.
Image Click this option to fit the document to the width of the viewer.
Image Click this option to zoom in or out of the document.
Image Click this option to rotate the view of the document 90 degrees counter-clockwise or clockwise.
These options do not rotate the actual document, only the view.
Image Use these options to navigate through the pages of the document.
To navigate directly to a specific page, type the number in the free-text field.
Image Click this option to display thumbnails for each page of the document.
Image Click this option to search the document for specific text.
Note: This option is only available for PDF documents.
Image Click this option to print the document.
Image Click this option to make the Document Viewer fit the entire screen. Click this option again to reduce the size of the Document Viewer on your screen.
Image Click this option to minimize the Document Viewer to your system tray.
Image / Image Use these options to enlarge or minimize the size of the Document Viewer screen.
Image Click this option to close the Document Viewer.
Document Viewer Command Legend
Use the Command Legend of the Document Viewer to view multiple documents in the Document Viewer.
Note: When the Document Viewer is opened from a task the list of opened documents is replaced with the Task Action Panel.
Each document that you open is displayed as a new tab in the Command Legend. If you open multiple documents from a single case, the tabs are grouped under a header that identifies the case number.
Several options are available depending on the document type open in the viewer.
Option Description
Apply Signature Click this option to add configured signatures to the document.
Apply Initials Click this option to add configured initials to the document.
Capture Signature Click this option to capture a signature.
Note: This option is available if you can edit the document and a Topaz signature pad is attached to the PC.
Image Editing If a document is an image, you can click this option to open a pop-up menu to edit the document.
Note: The commands on the pop-up menu correspond to the options discussed in the Editing Options section.
Stamps Click this option to add a configured stamp to the document.
Scan Click this option to scan the document.
Macros Click this option to use macros.
Next Click this option to work the next task in the queue.
Note: This option is only available for batch scanned items or items sent to the queue from the Documents tab.
Next / Send Click this option to work the next task in the queue and to select the queue or path to where the current task should be sent.
Note: This option is only available for batch scanned items or items sent to the queue from the Documents tab.
Skip Click this option to skip the current task.
Note: This option is only available for batch scanned items or items sent to the queue from the Documents tab.
Skip / Send Click this option to skip the current task and to select the queue or path to where the current task should be sent.
Note: This option is only available for batch scanned items or items sent to the queue from the Documents tab.
Display in New Window Click this option to view documents side by side.
Note: The document opens in a new window.
Versions This option is available if the user has the right to view versions and more than one document version is available.
Save Click this option to save changes to the document. The updated document is uploaded to Document Management.
Save As Click this option to save a local copy of the document.
Exit Click this option to close the document.
Note: You can also use the command prompt to perform the actions listed in the foregoing table.
Editing Options
The editing options that are available vary based on the document file format.
Note: Only users with appropriate editing rights are able to edit the document.
Option Description
Image Click this option to revert the document to the state it was in when it was loaded or last saved.
Image Click this option to tilt the document for legibility.
Image Click one of these options to rotate the document left or right.
Image Click this option to remove the border from the view of the document.
Image Click this option to remove the hole punch from the view of the document.
Image Click one of these options to remove the horizontal or vertical lines from the view of the document.
Image Click this option to improve the readability of documents where the text is faint or too thin.
Image Click this option to improve the readability of documents where the text is too thick.
Image Click this option to remove “noise” (small, random dots) from a document.
Image Click this option to remove isolated large dots from a document.
Image Click this option to smooth out the image of the characters in the document.
Image Click this option to add text to the document.
Image Click this option to add a sticky note to the document.
Image Click this option to draw a line in the document.
Image Click this option to draw a freehand line in the document.
Image Click this option to highlight sections of the document.
Image Click this option to draw an empty rectangle in the document.
Image Click this option to add a filled rectangle to the document.
Image Click this option to add a document stamp image file.
Image Click this tool to insert a currency amount/
Image Click this tool to insert a date.
Image Click this tool to insert the current date.
Image Click this option to rotate an annotation.
Image Click this option to strike through sections of the document.
Image Click this option to add whiteout to sections of the document.
Image Click this option to insert an “X” mark in the document.
Image Select this check box to make text annotations opaque.
Thumbnail Right-Click Options
When you click Image in the Document Viewer header, the thumbnail column displays all pages in the document as individual pages. You can select one or more of the pages or group of pages, and then perform one or more of the right-click options listed in the following table.
Option Description
Copy Selected Page(s) Use this option to copy the selected pages.
Cut Selected Page(s) Use this option to cut the selected pages from the document.
Delete Selected Page(s) Use this option to delete the selected pages.
Insert Page(s) Before Use this option to insert pages before the selection.
Insert Page(s) After Use this option to insert pages after the selection.
Note: To select more than one page, press and hold SHIFT to select sequential pages, or press and hold CTRL to select non-sequential pages.
Tagging Features
The following tagging fields and options are available when you are tagging a documents for signing.
Option Description
Classification Select the classification of the person who needs to sign the document.
Signature Click this button and insert the placeholder to the area of the document where a signature is needed.
Select the Include Date check box to indicate that a date is also needed.
Initials Click this button and insert the placeholder to the area of the document where initials are needed.
Select the Include Date check box to indicate that a date is also needed.

Additional Document Viewer Options
The following information for the document you are viewing is displayed at the bottom left of the Document Viewer screen:
•  Document type
•  Document version
In addition to the paging and viewing options, another option for adding a note to the document is as follows.
Option Description
Add Note Click this option to add a note to the document.
Bookmarks
The Bookmarks tab is displayed only for Portable Document Format (PDF) documents.
Note: Bookmarks are native to the document and new bookmarks cannot be added here.
